In a dream I saw a lamb, lying beside the still waters
Looking at the countryside, stillness clothing the sky outside
Beside the still waters.
Then a burst of lightning came, peaceful places were sought in vain
Thunder shook the valley again and again, beside the still waters.

Then the Shepherd mighty arose
Taking the lamb to a new valley He chose
A place to find rest and repose, beside the still waters.
But in this valley the lamb refused to drink - it turned away that day
From what the Shepherd found
It turned around, and looked the other way...

Drink from the waters in places new
Though things are difficult and strange for you
Yesterday’s places are missed today
Pathways are thorny along the way
But though your comfort in the familiar is gone
The same Shepherd is near you
From dusk to dawn.
