Samara Stricklen was a 17-year-old at Bear Creek High in Denver, Colorado. She and her friend Seth Mutschler were in a car crash. When an off-duty police officer rendered aid to Samara, she asked the officer to help her friend Seth first. Samara died as a result of putting her friend’s welfare before her own.

Her parents named her Samara, after the Biblical story of the good Samaritan. This page is dedicated to Samara, who followed the example of Christ.

“By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, that you have love one for another.” John 13:35

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21

Samara’s life was a light - it overcame evil with good.  “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overpower it.”  It was like a beautiful rainbow, shining on a dark day after a rain. As the sun pokes its way through the darkened clouds of evil, a rainbow appears. Revelation chapter 4 talks about a rainbow encircling the throne of God. Revelation 21 talks about the river of life coming from the throne of God. In a spiritual sense, Samara was a door for the healing rainbows of light and the healing waters and fountains from the presence of God to come through to wherever it was needed....

Gold streets

And rainbow fountains

Where glory resides

Grander than the mountains

Fills the new world where you live

And a crown of life to you He will give

Healing waters

And healing fountains

Came from the throne of God

Through you

And though you died

Your life inside

A healing fountain became

And the world will never be the same

Because your life was indestructible

Just like the One who died for you...

“Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.’”  John 4:13-14

The water that Christ gave through Samara’s life will spring up into wells into the lives of others. The new wells will spring up into eternal life. The new wells will bring more of the waters that people desperately need.

The things of this world don’t satisfy. The water of this world doesn’t quench thirst permanently. It doesn’t last at all. But the water Christ gives is symbolic of His life, and symbolic of the Holy Spirit. This water becomes a fountain, and springs up for all the world to see.

The example of Samara is like a beautiful fountain. As you watch the water spring up into the air, cooling the dry, hot summer day, it brings peace and life. It is wonderful to hear the sound of bubbling, spraying water from a fountain when the sun comes down hard on you.

The life of Christ was indestructible. He died, after the evil of this world hurled its most destructive power against Him. And from all appearances it looked as though it was over, but He rose again.  “He has become (our High Priest) not on the basis of a law of physical birth, but according to the power of an indestructible life.” (Hebrews 7:16).

If we have accepted the Lord, we are like Christ, and the life within us is indestructible.  Our bodies are only a shell covering an indestructible life. Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ? Have you asked Him to make you, as it were, indestructible? We are saved when we ask Christ to forgive us and to give us His right-standing with God. It doesn’t matter what you have done wrong - God gives us the perfect, indestructible life of Christ when we ask for it.  God will give us eternal life if we only ask. “Dear Lord Jesus, please give me your right-standing with God, and forgive me of all I have done. I forgive those who have hurt me, and I ask you to help me to live for you now for the rest of my days. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

“He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for us.”  Hebrews 7:25.

“Intercession” means to pray to God for someone else.  It means that Christ is praying for you! And when you ask Christ to deliver you, He is  “Able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him.”  “Forever” - for all time, no matter what you have done!
