Matt loved anything that had wheels and an engine. He dreamed of being a mechanic after high school. He loved working on his Bronco and going four-wheeling. He loved the outdoors, especially Pingree Park. He went by the name of "SuperMatt" as Superman was his hero.

Matt was  loving, caring, hardworking, and loyal. He put others before himself and was compassionate. As a boy, he loved his dog Sandy and his family.  He enjoyed putting up Christmas lights during the holidays. He and his fiancee Sarah Munger were to be married in October of 2005.

Matt and his fiance Sarah were together almost 4 years.  They were enthusiastic about life, and were very devoted to each other and their families. Sarah loved her Mom, and they were very close.

Matt and Sarah were always together, cooking, wrestling, cleaning house for their parents, and they put a lot of effort into helping others.

It seems that they inspired love and consideration for others among their family and friends, and even after they were both gone, the two families are still close.

Sarah’s Mother had this to say:

“Sarah was a beautiful person. She was so loving and caring. We had a relationship that not many mothers and daughters share. She danced from the time she was 2 1/2 until she graduated from high school - 15 years. She also loved soccer. She played Jr. high and high school soccer and coached a young girls' soccer team for the city. She was proud of the fact that she was the only female coach for her age bracket. Sarah loved anything that had to do with turtles and even had a painted turtle named Petunia which we have inherited. Matt gave it to her for her 16th birthday. She went by the e-mail address of ‘Pretty, Pretty Princess.’"
