Abraham lived in tents, and Hebrews chapter 11 talks about him “Looking for a city with foundations.” A tent doesn’t have foundations. He was looking for a heavenly city, and new country, and by faith he believed that he would someday see it. Jesus said in John chapter 14, “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.”
In I Peter chapter 1 we read, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has caused us to be born again to a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead so that we may obtain an inheritance that is incorruptible, undefiled, and reserved in heaven for us.” Hebrews chapter 6 says, “We have this hope, which is an anchor for the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast, and one which enters within the veil.” The veil they are talking about is the veil (curtain, several inches thick) which was a barrier to people from entering the most Holy place in the temple. When Jesus died on the cross, it says that “The veil was torn in two, from top to bottom, and there was a great earthquake.” God was saying loud and clear that we could now enter into His presence, free from any barriers. This is our “living hope,” reserved in heaven for us, and it is our hope right now, because we are told In Hebrews 10 that we can “Enter with confidence to the Holy place, by the blood of Jesus.”
There are no barriers to God’s throne for the person who has accepted the free gift of God - Jesus Christ - and the shedding of his blood so that we would “not perish, but have eternal life” John 3:16. We are encouraged to enter God’s presence any time we have needs.
“He is a stronghold for those who seek Him.” Psalm 9
